Jean Kohn's Obituary


YOUNGSTOWN Jean Lee Kohn, 76, died Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at her residence. She was born May 23, 1932, in Youngstown, a daughter of John and Eleanor Goff Schindell and was a life long Youngstown resident.

Lee was a waitress at area restaurants for many years retiring in 1990 from Gay's Restaurant. She was a member of Bible Baptist Temple in Campbell and a Democratic Precinct Committeeperson for almost 25 years. She attended Bible study at Canfield United Methodist Church and her greatest joy was her grandchildren.

Her husband, Miles V. Kohn, whom she married August 10, 1954, died August 2, 1996. She leaves two sons, Miles R. Kohn of Youngstown and Jerry Lynn of Foley, AL; one daughter, Debbie and her husband Tom Barber of Youngstown; two brothers, John and his wife Beverly Schindell of Cherry Hill, NJ, Edward and his wife Leah Schindell of Youngstown; three sisters, Eleanor and her husband Jim Moon of Canfield, Lynn and her husband Fred Koebel of Boardman and Rene and her husband Ron DeSantis of Youngstown; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Ray, Charles, Henry and Henry Schindell and two grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Barber and Patrick Raymond Kohn.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home, Hubbard.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5 to 8 pm.
