HUBBARD Mr. James W. Thornhill, 86, of Hubbard, died Sunday, November 3, 2002, at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. He was born May 29, 1916 in Belington, WV, a son of James W. and Grace Boyd Thornhill and lived in Hubbard since 1956.
Mr. Thornhill was a salesman for the Footwear Division of Uniroyal for 24 years, where he was salesman of the year in 1972, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hubbard where he sang in the church choir for many years. He served with the United States Marine Corp. during World War II. Mr. Thornhill was a 1938 graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College where he was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity. He was a member of the P.B.O.E. No. 55, Youngstown, a member of the Masonic Lodge, enjoyed singing and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He leaves his wife, the former Ruth Crane, whom he married August 31, 1936; a son, Bill (Gail) Thornhill of Avon Lake, OH; a daughter, Jeanne (James) Fairbanks of Hubbard; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A brother, Calvin Thornhill and two sisters, Jane Phillips and Margaret Gregory are deceased.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, Hubbard.
