HUBBARD James M. Steiner, 69, of Hubbard, died on Sunday afternoon, May 20, 2007, at his residence. He was born on February 27, 1938, in Sharon, PA, a son of Thomas and Mary Shanley Steiner and lived in Hubbard since 1968.
Mr. Steiner was the co-owner of Davis International for 19 years, retiring in 1999. Prior to this he was the job superintendent and project manager for D. D. Davis Construction Company from 1962–1980. After his retirement, he volunteered as a supervisor with the construction of the D. D. & Velma Davis Education & Visitors Center in Millcreek Park and in 2002 with the Winslow's Café addition at the Butler Art Institute.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hubbard, where he was a former elder and deacon, was a member and past president with the Hubbard Optimist Club, a member of the Farrell VFW, the Farrell Alumni Association, the Teamsters Union and was a former coach for the Hubbard Little League. James was a 1955 graduate of Farrell High School and served as a sergeant with the U. S. Army.
He leaves his wife, the former Jane L. Davis, whom he married on January 30, 1960; a son, Dean Steiner of Hubbard; two daughters, Paula (Marty) Franko and Jayme Donahue, both of Hubbard; four sisters, Viola Starr of Hubbard, Rosemarie Russo of Hartford, OH, Carol Augustine of Brookfield, OH and Linda Porte of Raleigh, NC; five grandchildren, Tara, Cory and Timmy Donahue and Jonathon and Allison Franko and many friends, most importantly, the Wallace Gang.
His parents, three sisters, Betty Greb, Eleanor Pringle and Kathleen Slezak and a grandson, Sean Donahue, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Hubbard.
Family and friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church, prior to the service.
