HUBBARD James S. Slifko, Sr., 67, died Saturday morning, February 28, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. He was born August 11, 1941 in Youngstown, a son of Joseph P. and Mary Precy Slifko and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Slifko was an electrical lineman for the City of Hubbard for 28 years before retiring in 1997. He was of the catholic faith.

James served with the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2072 of Hubbard, the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 213, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3767 of Hubbard and the Coin Operated Collectors Association.

He leaves two sons, Christopher J. (Joell) Slifko of Derby, KS currently in the Air Force serving in Kuwait and James (Nicci) Slifko, Jr. of Hubbard; a brother, William Slifko of New Castle, PA; four grandchildren, Christopher Slifko of Derby, KS, Ryan Slifko of Lackland AFB in Texas, Brett Morgan and Michael Slifko both of Hubbard.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and Robert Slifko.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 9:30 AM at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home and 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Church, Hubbard.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
