HUBBARD A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church for James F. Palumbo, 67, who died Monday evening October 20, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his family and close friends. He was born April 2, 1947 in Youngstown, a son of Vito A. and Theresa M. Williams Palumbo and was a lifelong Hubbard resident.
Mr. Palumbo worked for Lowe's for 14 years and was previously the superintendent of utilities for the City of Hubbard for over 30 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and worked the festival 50/50 for 15 years. James was a 1965 graduate of Ursuline High School and served with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
James was very active in and also coached the Hubbard Little Eagles midget football league for 15 years having been President for 4 years. He had served on the Hubbard School Board and was currently active on the Planning and Zoning Board.
He leaves his wife of 39 years, the former Barbara K. King, whom he married July 24, 1975; two sons, Mario D. (Mandy) Palumbo of Purcell, OK, James L. (Robyn) Palumbo of Hubbard; three daughters, Melissa A. (Ryan) Caesar of Hubbard, Michelle M. (Josh) Barr of Hubbard and Theresa M. Palumbo of Youngstown; a brother, William G. Palumbo of Hubbard and a sister-in-law, Nancy Palumbo of Hubbard; 17 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald and Richard Palumbo and a grandson, James Bowers Jr.
Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home.
Closing prayers will be held Friday at 9:15 AM at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
