James Lewis's Obituary


HUBBARD James D. Lewis, 76, of Hubbard, died Saturday, October 21, 2006, at Liberty Health Care. He was born March 27, 1930, in Struthers, a son of Everett R. and Sophie Kotick Lewis and was a life long area resident. Mr. Lewis was a rock lather working out of Carpenters Union Local 171 retiring in 1988. During this time he also worked in Saudi Arabia for six months. He also owned and operated J & L Service and Western Reserve Trenching.

Jim was a member of St. Patrick Church, Hubbard and St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, Campbell. He was a member of the Great Chatter Box Club, Northside Reunion Committee, Hubbard Historical Society, Saturday Morning Breakfast Bunch, Baseball Breakfast Group, American Slovak Cultural Society and the Carpatho Rusyn Society. A Navy Veteran, Jim enjoyed dancing and was an avid fisherman and hunter.

He leaves his wife, the former Joanne Basista, whom he married August 4, 1962; two sons, David J. (Laura) Lewis of Ellsworth, OH and Thomas D. (Kendra) Lewis of Greenford, OH; two daughters, Terri (Ernest) Zolka of Chardon, OH and Laurie (Joseph) Honthy of Lebanon, OH; three brothers, Lee Lewis of Boardman, Cliff Lewis of Columbus, OH and Bill Megan of Rockford. IL; four sisters, Wilma Moody of Las Vegas, NV, Hester Kirner of Youngstown, Shirley Martin and Monica Geidner, both of Struthers; and 10 grandchildren he loved to spent time with, Karen Zolka, Todd Zolka, Christian Honthy, Trent Honthy, Chase Honthy, Cole Honthy, Hailey Lewis, Gavin Lewis, Mary Lewis and John Lewis.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 10:15 am at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home and at 11:00 am at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, Campbell.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, 5 to 8 pm, where a prayer service will be held at 6:00 pm.
