HUBBARD James L. Battista, 74, of Hubbard, died Wednesday afternoon, February 22, 2006, at North Side Medical Center. He was born November 8, 1931, in Struthers, OH, a son of Frank and Frances Gillotti Battista and moved to Hubbard in 1959.
Mr. Battista was a letter carrier for the U. S. Postal Service in Struthers for 37 years. Jim was a member of St. Patrick Church in Hubbard and was a U. S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.
He leaves his wife, the former Margaret E. "Marge" Milkovich, whom he married on August 29, 1959; a son, James V. Battista of Pittsburgh, PA; two daughters, Rebecca (Mark) Morocco of Hubbard and Jessica (Lyle) Almburg of Hubbard; a brother, William Battista of Poland; three sisters, Georgiana Minghetti and Nora Papalia, both of Youngstown and Florence Zoldak of Florida and three grandchildren, Mark, Lyle and Eric.
His parents, two brothers, Joseph "Base" Battista and Dominick Battista and two sisters, Mary Botsko and Catherine Connor, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard, where friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to North Side Medical Center, Cancer Care Unit, 500 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown, OH 44505.
