Obituary


HUBBARD Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Hubbard High School Auditorium for Jack L. Arvin, 61 of 163 Fifth Ave. who died of a heart attack Saturday evening at Northside Medical Center. He was born May 27, 1939, in Martinsburg, WV, a son of Charles C. and Daisy Nelnora Arvin and moved to this area in 1964.

Mr. Arvin was a graduate of Martinsburg High School, Shepherd College, both in West Virginia, and had a Masters Degree from Westminster College. He was a teacher and coach at Hubbard High School for 30 years, served as a teacher and head football coach at Brookfield High School and was a teacher and coach at Girard High School, Farrell High School and Stow High School, Stow, OH.

While at Hubbard High School he was the Junior Class advisor and organized proms for the past 20 years in addition to heading the drama department where he had directed 41 plays. He was a basketball score keeper for many years and was a former boys and girls head track coach

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hubbard, the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association, president of the Mahoning Valley Coaches Association and a member of the Trumbull County Coaches Association. In 1993 the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association named him Assistant Coach of the Year. He was a member of the Hubbard Gridiron Club and an honorary member of the Hello Brothers Club of Hubbard. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman.

He leaves his wife, the former Dorothy Lunich, whom he married July 29,1972; a daughter, Leigh Arvin at home; two sisters, Jean Butcher and Louise Huff, both of Martinsburg, WV. His parents are deceased.

Friends may call at the Hubbard High School Auditorium Tuesday, 4 to 8 PM.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage, PA.
