CINCINNATI Irene A. Allen, 93, lived most of her life in Hubbard until moving to Cincinnati in 2000, died Friday afternoon, August 16, 2013 at The Anderson Nursing Home in Cincinnati. Irene was born August 12, 1920 in Youngstown, a daughter of John and Mary Orlovsky Slavik.
Mrs. Allen was a teacher's assistant for Fairhaven School for 19 years, retiring in 1982 and enjoying summers at Billow Beach on Lake Erie. She was a member of St. Patrick Church in Hubbard, the first president of the Hubbard Conservation Club Ladies Auxiliary, and was a past president of Fairhaven School Mothers club. Irene also enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, bingo or any game with the potential for profit!
Her husband, former Mayor of Hubbard, W. Robert "Bob" Allen, whom she married August 11, 1943, died August 6, 1996. Her son Bill A. Allen died June 13, 2007.
She leaves a daughter, Marijane (Thomas) Olenick of Cincinnati; a sister, Edna Mae Bresnahan of Hubbard; two grandchildren Christopher Olenick and Cindy Lyons of Cincinnati and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Albert Slavik and two sisters Agnes Stone, and Margaret Senvissky.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, one and one half hours prior to the service from 9:00-10:30 AM at St. Patrick Church.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Church.
