HUBBARD Herbert F. Ruby, 84, of Hubbard, died Monday afternoon, July 28, 2008, at Forum Health Northside Medical Hospital. He was born on February 13, 1924, in Mount Ephraim, OH, a son of Frank W. and Cecil K. Archer Ruby and had lived in Hubbard since 1967.
Mr. Ruby was a self-employed livestock broker for over sixty years, retiring in 2002. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Herbert served with the Army in World War II, fighting in the Philippines where he was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife, the former Virginia Lanning, whom he married on March 9, 1946; two daughters, Connie (June Flaviani) Gilligan and Carolyn (Tom) Watkins, both of Hubbard; a sister, Martha Webb of Hubbard; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
His parents and a brother, Carl Ruby, preceded him in death.
Private graveside services were held on Thursday at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
