HUBBARD Helen A. Skruck, 96, of Hubbard, died Tuesday morning, September 26, 2006, at Liberty Health Care Center. She was born on October 1, 1909, in Hubbard, a daughter of Joseph W. and Mary Cavanaugh Rapple and was a lifelong Hubbard resident.
She was a granddaughter of Wolfgang Joseph Rapple, one of the early settlers of Hubbard.
Mrs. Skruck, a homemaker, was a member of St. Patrick Church in Hubbard where she was the first woman lay minister and a member of the Legion of Mary and the Altar & Rosary Society. Helen was a 1928 graduate of Ursuline Academy and enjoyed bingo and spending time with her family.
Her husband, John N. Skruck, whom she married on May 6, 1930, died on July 22, 1996.
She leaves two sons, Patrick J. (Eileen) Skruck of Leland, NC and Dr. Gerard Skruck of Manchester, NH; a daughter, Lenora S. (Dr. John) McNally of Boston, MA; 22 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Besides her husband, her parents, a son, John N. Skruck, Jr., a daughter, Betty A. Ross, a brother, Jack Rapple and sisters, Anna Bour, Bessie Wilcox, May Haefner and Josephine Vetter, preceded her in death.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2006, at St. Patrick Church in Hubbard.
Contributions may be made in memory of Helen to the donor's favorite charity.
