A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015 in St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hubbard with Fr. Timothy O'Neil officiating, preceded by closing prayers to be recited at 9:15 a.m. in the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home for Helen G. Gbur Shevetz, 86, of Hubbard, who passed away Friday, January 9, 2015 at 7:45 p.m. at Pembrook Place in Youngstown.

Mrs. Shevetz was born on November 15, 1928 in Lowellville, the daughter of the late Joseph S. and Catherine (Morjock) Gbur.

She was a 1946 graduate of Lowellville High School and moved to Hubbard in 1965.

A homemaker, Mrs. Shevetz was a member of the National Slovak Society and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Struthers. She was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hubbard and enjoyed bowling and dancing.

She was married on January 8, 1952 in Michael Shevetz and they were married for 50 years until his passing on March 1, 2002.

Mrs. Shevetz is survived by three sons Michael J. of Youngstown, John P. of Roundrock Texas and James S. of Boardman; a daughter Karen S. (Dale) Rentz of Youngstown and a sister Mary Bilec of McKeesport, PA; three grandchildren Timothy (Rachel), Nicole (Shane) and Michael; and three great grandchildren Abagail, Bridget and Zachary.

Besides her parents and husband Michael, Mrs. Shevetz was preceded in death by six brothers Joseph, George, Steve, Barney, Frank and Edward Gbur and two sisters Kathryn Chase and Veronica Bata-Kollar.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the Kelley – Robb – Cummins Funeral Home.

Burial will take place in Queen of the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Lowellville.
