HUBBARD Helen (Kosko) Dubyak, 88, died Wednesday September 28, 2011 at the UH Geauga Medical Center. She was born January 23, 1923 in New Bedford, PA, a daughter of Wesley and Anastasia Zuk Kosko, lived in Hubbard for 80 years moving here when she was 4.
Mrs. Dubyak became a Hubbard Township Clerk in 1971 and then a township trustee until retiring in the late 1980's and also ran the Driver's License Registration in Hubbard. She was an active member of St. John's C.R. Orthodox Church in Sharon, PA and made pierogies for many years. Helen was a 1940 graduate of Hubbard High School, was a Girl Scout leader for all 3 of her daughters and was an active member of the ABWA. She was active in the Democratic party politics and worked the polls on election day for over 50 years along with being precinct committee person. She was also a fabulous seamstress and gardener. You could see her out mowing her lawn and gardening until she was in her early 80's. Helen was a devoted wife and wonderful mother and grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her husband, Joseph Dubyak, whom she married August 22, 1941, died February 9, 1977.
She leaves a son, Joseph (Kristin) Dubyak of Orange Village, OH; two daughters, Ellen (John) Olexa of Pittsboro, NC and Marilyn (George) Radu of Novelty, OH; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Barbara Donlin who died in 1998; three brothers, Tony, John and William Kosko and two sisters, Sophie Balzic and Nellie Paduchik.
Funeral services will be held Monday 11:00 AM at St. John Orthodox Cemetery Chapel, Route 18 at Morefield Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.
Family and friends may call on Sunday 3:00 to 6:00 PM and also on Monday 9:45 to 10:15 AM at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 or to the St. John Orthodox Church Building Fund, 725 Cedar Ave., Sharon, PA 16146
Interment will be St. John Orthodox Cemetery.
