VIENNA Harlan A. Barnes, 82 of Vienna, died Wednesday morning, April 16, 2003, at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. He was born November 3, 1920, in Sharon, PA, a son of Steven and Mary Doyle Barnes and was a life long area resident.

Mr. Barnes worked for Sharon Steel Corp. for 43 years retiring in 1983. He was a member of Big Bend Methodist Church, Mercer, PA and was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed spending time at home and with his family. Mr. Barnes was a Sergeant with the Army serving in World War II.

He leaves his wife, the former Doris A. Swingle, whom he married November 23, 1944; one son, Dennis D. Barnes of Mineral Ridge; one daughter, Pamela J. (David) Lupo of Struthers; one brother, Earl Barnes of New Castle, PA; two sisters, Dorothy Jones of Sharpsville, PA and Ellen Boldizar of Farrell, PA.

His parents, a brother, William Barnes and a sister, Hazel Palmer are deceased.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home, Hubbard.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, 5 to 8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
