HUBBARD Private funeral services were held on Monday for Gerald E. Taafe, 92, who died Wednesday morning October 7, 2015 at Liberty Health Care. He was born May 20, 1923 in Youngstown, a son of Peter J. and Mary Mayhew Taafe and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Taafe was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and had served with the United States Navy during World War II. Gerald enjoyed golfing and playing tennis.
His wife, the former Lucille J. Toupin, whom he married June 26, 1945, died July 28, 2001.
Gerald leaves two sons, Gerald (Cindy) Taafe of Andover and James (Lisa) Taafe of Hubbard; five daughters, Judy (Jim) Herrholtz of Hubbard, Karen (Tom) Jones of Hubbard, Patty Lee of Wooster, Colleen Noble of Hubbard and Kim (Ed) Yasher of Burghill; 25 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Richard, Alfred, William and his twin brother, Frank Taafe; a sister, Aldean Durkin and his son-in-law, Raymond Lee.
Arrangements were handled by the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home.
Gerald's final resting place will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
