BOWLING GREEN, KY Frederick O. Gurney, 96, formerly of Hubbard, died Thursday evening May 15, 2014 at his home. He was born October 7, 1917 in Minerva, OH a son of Otho and Edith Lozier Gurney.

Mr. Gurney worked in the accounting department at Republic Steel for 21 years, retiring in 1982. He served with the United States Army and was an avid Scout Club Master for over 40 years and was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. Fred was an active member of the Corner House Christian Church, also having been a Deacon and Elder.

His first wife, the former Mildred Ward, whom he married July 20, 1940, died July 22, 1977; his second wife, the former Blanche Richards, whom he married September 5, 1981, died April 13, 2007.

He leaves a son, David C. Gurney of New Haven, IN; a daughter, Carol Brumlow of Bowling Green, KY; 5 stepchildren, Janice Sanders of Kokomo, IN, Marilyn Jacobs of Hubbard, Carol Balluch of Sharon, PA, Jerry Coxson and David Coxson both of Hubbard; 4 grandchildren, 15 step grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 25 step great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and 3 step great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles Gurney; a grandson, Jason Allen Gurney; a step grandson, Tim Balluch and a great granddaughter, Alexandra Grace Dickerson.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the services on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Corner House Christian Church.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Corner House Christian Church in Hubbard.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Kentucky Christian University Go Scholarship Fund, 100 Academic Parkway, Grayson, KY 41143.

Interment will be at Corner House Cemetery in Hubbard.
