MONTGOMERY, AL Private funeral services will be held for Francise E. Smith, 84, of Montgomery, AL, formerly of Hubbard, who died Tuesday afternoon, August 7, 2001 at Jackson Hospital, Montgomery, AL. She was born October 4, 1916 in Peterborough, NH a daughter of Scott and Lena LaBlanche Appleton and lived most of her life in Hubbard until 1973 when she moved to Alabama.

Mrs. Smith, a homemaker, was of the Baptist faith, a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Eagles and enjoyed crocheting and arts and crafts.

Her husband, Carl W. Smith, whom she married December 25, 1939, died August 4, 1971. She leaves a son, Steve K. Smith of Hubbard; three daughters, Bonita K. Payne of Tuscaloosa, AL, Carlene Payne of Montgomery, AL and Estella Martin of Struthers, OH; eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. A son, Scott Smith and a sister, Kathryn Blevens are deceased.

There are no calling hours.

Burial will be in Hubbard Union Cemetery, Hubbard, OH.
