YOUNGSTOWN Evelyn Amay DeJane, 92, died Sunday evening, March 22, 2009 at Hospice House. She was born May 16, 1916 in Youngstown, a daughter of John B. and M. Luceal Wimer Alexander and was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. DeJane, a hairdresser, owned and operated Evelyn's Beauty Shop from 1936 to 1946 and DeJae's Beauty Shop from 1967 to 1977. She was a member of the New Middletown Free Methodist Community Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher. Evelyn was a 1934 graduate of Scienceville High School, attended Sayres Beauty College in Akron, was a member of the Mahoning Valley Cosmetology Association, enjoyed flower arranging and loved entertaining her family.

Her husband, Thornton L. DeJane, whom she married January 19, 1941, died September 17, 1972.

She leaves a son, C. Thomas (Tina) DeJane of Liberty; a daughter, Darlene D. (Dennis) Malaska of Youngstown; a sister, Dorothy Bittner of Columbiana and one grandson, Mark (Bethany) Malaska of Wakefield, RI.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David J. DeJane; three brothers, Howard B., William R. and John W. Alexander and a grandson, David B. Malaska.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday 11:00 AM at the New Middletown Free Methodist Community Church.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home, Hubbard and also on Thursday 10:00 to 11:00 AM, one hour prior to the services, at the church.
