YOUNGSTOWN Ernest Smallwood, 84, died Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Pembrook Place. He was born April 3, 1925 in Pikeville, KY a son of John and Adeline Hollands Smallwood and lived most of his life in the area coming from Kentucky.
Mr. Smallwood retired from Truscon Steel Corporation as a welder and then drove School Bus for Youngstown City Schools. He was a member of the Eagles No. 3298, Youngstown and was a beekeeper.
His wife, the former, Ethel Hylton, whom he married December 4, 1947, died April 13, 2009.
He leaves three sons, Monte (Rose) Smallwood of Boardman, Ellery (Lisa) Smallwood of Youngstown and Bernie Smallwood of Youngstown; three daughters, Judy Webster of Youngstown, Betty (Martin) Kelbel of North Lima and Debra (Bernard) Foster of Niles; two sisters, Emogene Mullins of Pikeville, KY and Mildred Zobowsky of Youngstown; 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Gary Smallwood; a daughter, Janey Sloan; three brothers, Ed, Bernie and Bill Smallwood; two sisters, Omey and Betty and a grandson, Michael Raymond Gifford.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 AM at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home.
