BROOKFIELD Emma Ghirardi, 99, died Sunday evening, November 1, 2015, at Liberty Health Care. She was born June 11, 1916 in Farrell, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Stephen and Rose Nagy Salae and was a lifelong resident.

Mrs. Ghirardi was a 1933 graduate of Farrell High School. She had worked as a sales associate in the Men's department at the former Valley View in Brookfield and previously had worked for Westinghouse as a coil winder. Emma was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Sharon, PA. She loved to bake and sew and took great pride in house keeping.

Her husband, Oscar Ghirardi, whom she married July 30, 1938 at Holy Trinity Church in Farrell, died July 7, 2014.

Emma will be sadly missed by her daughter, Loretta Pettola of Hubbard; her 6 grandchildren, Michael Pettola, David Pettola, Jeffrey Pettola, Colleen Ghirardi, Jay Ghirardi and Gregory Ghirardi and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Paul Ghirardi; two brothers, Steve and Edward Salae and two sisters, Rose Bossick and Florence Palazzini.

A memorial Mass will be held on Friday November 27, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.

There are no calling hours.

Emma's final resting place will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
