HUBBARD A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at St. Bernadette Church in Masury, now known as St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community for Emil J. Ruha, 74, who died Friday afternoon March 6, 2015 at his home. He was born December 19, 1940 in New Castle, PA a son of John Emil and Emma Hido Ruha and lived in Hubbard for 40 years.
Mr. Ruha was a 1958 graduate of McDonald High School, served with the United States Army during the Vietnam war and attended Kent State University. He worked in the service and setup and was in management at Packard Electric for 34 years, retiring in 1997. After his retirement he busied himself at the former Kelley-Robb Funeral Home and also Atlas Rehab.
Emil was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, St. Bernadette Catholic Parish in Masury where he was a Liturgical Lector and actively participated in church activities. He was a member and past President of the Hubbard Kiwanis, a member and past Trustee and Treasurer of the Hubbard Conservation Club, a member of the Friends of the Hubbard Library and was active in the Hubbard Community Youth League coaching and refereeing.
Emil was an avid reader, enjoyed watching Jeopardy, playing cards, watching sports, traveling to Florida and especially relaxing and spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife, the former Marsha A. Campanizzi, whom he married May 4, 1968; two sons, Eric (Kara) Ruha of Bonita Springs, FL and Kyle (Sarah) Ruha of Columbus; a sister, Emma Lou Gromofsky of Youngstown; a granddaughter, Evelyn Rose Ruha and another granddaughter on the way.
Family and friends may call on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home.
Closing prayers will be held on Tuesday at 9:15 AM at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home.
Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Beatitude House, 238 Tod Lane, Youngstown, OH 44504 or to the Building Fund for the new church, St. Thomas the Apostle, 4453 Warren-Sharon Rd., Vienna, OH 44473.
