HUBBARD Emil J. Filimon, 81 of Hubbard, died Thursday evening, October 13, 2005, at his residence. He was born March 7, 1924, in Youngstown, a son of John and Anna Lapedus Filimon and was a life long area resident.
Mr. Filimon worked for Sherwin Williams Co., US Can Division, in Hubbard for 33 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Youngstown, served as president of AFL/CIO Local Union 4427 for 30 years and was in the U.S. Army. Emil was an accomplished athlete excelling in baseball and was a life long Cleveland Indians and Browns fan.
He leaves his wife, the former Ann Kovach, whom he married April 18, 1953; three sons, Joseph R. (Ashley) Filimon of Matthews, NC, John "Rocky" Filimon of New York, New York and Jeffrey E. (Deborah) Filimon of San Francisco, CA; a daughter, Dr. Debra (Robert) Demyen of Hubbard; a sister, Sally (Eli) Moga of Hubbard; six grandchildren, Eric, Erin and Alayna Filimon; Kelsey and Ryan Demyen and Audrey Filimon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, John, Joseph, Ralph and Samuel; two sisters, Violet and Helen and a granddaughter, Taylor Ann Demyen.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am Monday at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home and at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, 5 to 8 pm.
