HUBBARD Emery W. Johnson, 79 of Hubbard, died Sunday morning, May 18, 2008, at Campus Health Care. He was born March 18, 1929, in Connellsville, PA, a son of Leroy C. and Ethel Wingard Johnson and has lived in the area since 1952. He worked for Sharon Steel Corp. for 36 years retiring in 1990.
Mr. Johnson was a member of Victory Christian Center, Lowellville, where he served as a Deacon, Royal Ranger Leader and Bible School volunteer. He also attended Mahoning Valley Church in Girard after his health began to fail. Emery loved working on cars and scraping metal. He was a loving, gentle and kind person with a great sense of humor. He would do anything for anyone including help move, fix a car and so much more. Those who met him loved him.
He leaves his wife, the former Gail Thomas, whom he married February 13, 1976; five sons, Emery L. (Peggy) Johnson of Transfer, PA, Robert G. (Carol) Johnson of Somerset, PA, Samuel P. (Joyce) Johnson of Masury, John E. (Amanda) Johnson of Hubbard and James E. (Mary) Johnson of Bristolville; four daughters, Mona Ruth (James) Anderson of Sharon, PA, Bonnie S. (Wayne) Searcy of Farrell, PA, Tenna L. Fletcher of Campbell and Brenda L. Johnson of Warren; three sisters, Freida McNair of Mt. Pleasant. PA, Luetta Silbaugh of West Virginia and Nancy Michael of Farrell, PA; 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Betty Johnson, a great grandson, Covington Johnson, five brothers, Robert, Rueben, Bill, Carl and Mick Johnson and one sister, Panzy Clevenger.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at Victory Christian Center, Lowellville.
Family and friends may call at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm and on Wednesday from 10 to 11 at church prior to the service.
