HUBBARD Elizabeth G. Cover, 94, of Hubbard, died Tuesday morning, December 26, 2006 at Liberty Health Care Center. She was born on February 28, 1912, in Youngstown, a daughter of Luzerne and Mary Happer Grindlay and was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Cover, a teacher, was a graduate of the Rayen School and Oberlin Kindergarten Primary Training School and attended Miami University. She taught in the Youngstown schools for 15 years and at E. J. Blott Elementary School in Liberty for 15 years, retiring in 1977. She was a 50 year member of Liberty Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a 20 year member of Brown Memorial Church. Elizabeth was a member of the Oberlin Women's Club, Sekulta Club and volunteered for Service to Seniors. During World War II, she was a Red Cross Nurse's Aide and volunteered for the USO.
Her husband, Herman M. Cover, whom she married on September 25, 1948, died on May 18, 1986.
She leaves three sons, Luzerne (Diane) Cover of Avon Lake, George (Julia) Cover of Hubbard and Jon Cover of Liberty; a daughter, Mary (Mark) Runkel of Dearborn, MI; two stepdaughters, Janice (Bill) Campbell of Waynesville, OH and Carol (Bo) Budinger of Westford, MA; a sister, Mary Enterline Courtney of Canfield and five grandchildren, Michael and Joseph Runkel and Karen, Geordan and Harrison Cover.
Besides her husband, her parents and two brothers, Dr. John and Robert Grindlay, preceded her in death.
Private funeral services will be held at a later date.
