COITSVILLE Eleanor J. Shaner, 84, of Coitsville, died Wednesday evening at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. She was born August 18, 1924 in Youngstown, a daughter of Herman and Jeanette Keown Schroeder and was a life long area resident.

Mrs. Shaner was a pharmacy technician for Northside Hospital Medical Center for 25 years retiring in 1984. She was a member of Coitsville Presbyterian Church, a former Deacon and Choir member. Eleanor enjoyed working crossword puzzles.

Her husband, Merle E. Shaner, whom she married December 30, 1946, died September 1, 1989.

She leaves a son, Richard L. (Sandy) Shaner of Struthers; a sister, Marilyn Malutic of Coitsville; two grandchildren, Brian Shaner of Struthers and Karen Shaner of Austintown; two great granddaughters, Katlyn Shaner of Youngstown and Haley Tarr of Austintown.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Richard and William Schroeder.

Private funeral services were held at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home.
