HUBBARD Eleanor Glaser Garrett, 86, of Hubbard, died Tuesday evening, May 3, 2005 at Park Vista Retirement Community. She was born December 22, 1918, in Bellaire, OH, a daughter of Elmer and Edna Young Powell and lived most of her life in Hubbard. She will be remembered by her friends and family for her love of life, love of family and her wonderful sense of humor.
Mrs. Garrett was a Latin teacher and worked for the West Middlesex and Hubbard Schools Systems. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hubbard, its Home Builders Class and a Sunday school teacher. A graduate of Hubbard High School, she was also a 1940 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and a member of Chi Omega Sorority and the honorary societies, Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Society. Eleanor was active in many groups, including the Fortnightly III, Progressive Club and the Women's Golf Association of Hubbard.
She leaves her husband, Lloyd Garrett, her son, Richard A. (Linda) Glaser of Ada, MI; a daughter-in-law, Michele Glaser of Houston, TX; 4 grandchildren, Eric (Stephanie) Glaser of Houston, TX, Ingrid Glaser of Dallas, TX, Jason Glaser of New York City, NY and Megan Glaser of Grand Rapids, MI and a great-grandchild, Maxwell Glaser of Houston, TX.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her first husband, William A. Glaser, a son, William P. Glaser and a sister, Betty Stepanian Cantu.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Hubbard.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard and from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church prior to the service.
