FARRELL, PA Edward S. Purich, 90, formerly of Farrell, died Friday morning, October 22, 2004, at Liberty Health Care Center. He was born July 31, 1914 in Chicago, IL, a son of Vladimir and Eva Mijich Purich. A long time Farrell resident, he moved to Maryland in 1979, Florida in 2002 and returned to the area in December of 2003.

Mr. Purich worked for Sharon Steel Corp. for 38 years, retiring in 1963. He was a member of the Croatian American Civic Club, ARIA Singing Society, SLOGA Tamburitzans and Croatian Fraternal Union, Lodge #126, all in Farrell, PA. He was a member and organizer for the Steelworkers' Union and was very active in local politics in the Democratic Party having served as an Alderman for the city of Farrell. He was a member of the Farrell Area School Board for 12 years and had served as treasurer and president. Ed was a sports enthusiast, having played semi-professional football.

His wife, the former Violet S. Spanja, whom he married August 23, 1940, died February 19, 2004.

He leaves three sons, Dr. Edward D. (Jeanne) Purich of Silver Spring, MD, Dr. Daniel L. (Nora) Purich of Gainesville, FL and Dale M. (Betty) Purich of Silver Spring, MD; two daughters, Donnajean (Ronald) Enyeart of Hubbard and Darlane J. (Roy) Kroening of Bloomington, MN; a sister, Angelina Budanka of Farrell, PA; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, his parents, a son, David R. Purich, two brothers, Milan and Ned Purich, preceded him in death.

There will be no calling hours or funeral services.

Funeral arrangements were handled be the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard.
