BROOKFIELD Edward J. Mills, 67, of Brookfield, died Wednesday evening, February 21, 2007, at Sharon Regional Health System. He was born on August 17, 1939, in Sharon, Pa, a son of Woodrow Wilson and Mary Kathleen O'Brien Mills and lived in Brookfield since 1962.
Mr. Mills was a member of the Midwest Tool Collectors Club and the Ohio Tool Collectors and a former member and treasurer of the Brookfield Optimist Club. He was a Brookfield businessman and a master plumber by trade. Ed had a keen business sense and opened Brookfield Gardens in 1970. A man of vision, in 1974, he founded Belly Buster Subs in Brookfield, long before many of the national sandwich restaurants were established. In 1985, he added the Floral and Gift Shop to Brookfield Gardens. Continuing in the entrepreneur spirit, he established Tent, Inc. in 1995.
Ed did the building and remodeling himself, constructing everything from pole buildings and greenhouses to complete remodeling and rebuilding of existing buildings. He truly was a master craftsman.
He leaves his wife, the former Nancy J. Carly, whom he married on November 11, 1961; his daughter, Tracey of Masury; three brothers, Terry Mills of Mercer, PA, Walter Paul Mills of Austintown and Eugene Mills of Geneva-on-the-Lake, OH and beloved nieces, nephews and many friends.
His parents, two sons, Scott E. and Todd E. Mills and twin sisters, preceded him in death.
