HUBBARD Edward Chovan, 81, of Hubbard, died Sunday, January 1, 2006, at John XXIII Home in Hermitage, PA. He was born January 6, 1924, in Sharon, PA, a son of Andrew and Susann Dacho Chovan and was a lifelong Hubbard resident.
Mr. Chovan was a carpenter and a member of the Carpenters' Union Local 268 in Sharon, PA for 50 years, retiring in 1998. He served his carpenter apprenticeship at the John Sizer Corp. in Sharon, PA. Ed had a strong work ethic and after retirement worked for his son's business, Omega, Inc. in Wheatland, PA. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served as a messenger during World War II in Europe.
His wife, the former Ruth I. Hollibaugh, whom he married August 25, 1945, died on March 14, 2004.
He leaves a son, Paul E. (Diane) Chovan of Hubbard; a daughter, Carol (Michael) Warren of Antioch, CA; a brother, John Chovan of Sharpsville, PA; five grandchildren, Karen (Erik) Wagner of Charlotte, NC, Judith (Stephen) Westerfield of Cary, NC, Ryan (Olivia) Chovan of Hubbard, Patrick Chovan of Hermitage, PA and his friend, Rachel Beatty of Sharon, PA and Bryon Scot Hopkins of Pleasant Hill, CA and five great-grandchildren, Tayler, Madisen and Gillian Hopkins of Pleasant Hill, CA, Ian Metthew Chovan of Hubbard and Benjamin Paul Wagner of Charlotte, NC.
Besides his wife, his parents, two brothers, Joseph and Andrew Chovan and three sisters, Mary Golubic, Helen Kernick and Suzanne Kwarciak, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
