YOUNGSTOWN Donald A. "Ace" Harman, 59, died Monday evening, March 9, 2009 at his residence. He was born June 18, 1949 in Harman, West Virginia, a son of Jonas and Betty Garrison Harman and lived most of his life in the area.
Mr. Harman owned and operated Ace Roofing for many years and will continue to be run by his family. An entrepreneur, he operated several bars, masonry, construction, taxi service and auto body businesses. He previously worked at U.S. Steel.
Ace was an ordained minister, enjoyed country music, motorcycling, boxing, was an avid Kelly Pavlik supporter. He was an avid fighter for constitutional rights having achieved two precedent setting decisions in a single case.
He leaves his long time loving companion with whom they shared a daughter (Victoria), Tami Kotouch; two daughters, Donnajean Harman of Hubbard and Victoria Harman of Canfield; three sisters, Nancy Sparks of Youngstown and Ruth Hedrick and Patricia Teeter both of West Virginia; three grandchildren, John, Ammie-Marie and Kaytlynne.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, 6:00 PM at the Travelodge, 1610 Motor Inn Drive, Girard, OH 44420.
