Obituary

Lexington, Ohio – Deanne Marie Morell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and faithful servant of Christ, was peacefully called home to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of September 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born to Robert and Ann Marie Horvath on August 15, 1965, in Hubbard, Ohio, Deanne grew up in a loving, faith-filled home that shaped the compassionate and selfless woman she became. She attended St. Patrick School and graduated from Hubbard High School in 1983, later earning her bachelor's degree in business from Youngstown State University in 1987.

Throughout her years, Deanne lived in several places including Portland, Indiana, and El Paso, Texas, before settling in Lexington, Ohio, where she built a joyful and Christ-centered home.

She was a proud member of Delta Theta Tau and Altrusa International, and she faithfully served her community in innumerable quiet and meaningful ways.

For 12 years, Deanne was a cherished employee of the Mechanics Bank family, where she touched countless lives with her kindness and dedication. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of working alongside her, especially her close friend Sally Caskey.

A proud lifelong Ohioan, she found joy in every season of sports—whether watching fall football, attending Guardians games, or staying up late for Cavaliers matchups. She never missed a chance to root for her teams.

She had a true servant's heart — always putting others before herself, never seeking recognition, only the joy of giving — and lived each day guided by her steadfast faith in God.

Deanne was the devoted wife of Tom Morell for 38 years, and the proud mother of Justin Morell and Alexis (Eric) Danhoff. She was affectionately known as "DeeDee" to her cherished grandsons — Hudson, Mason, and Gibson — who brought her endless joy and were the light of her life. Whether cheering from the sidelines, planning family getaways, or sharing quiet, meaningful moments, Deanne's love was constant, deep, and unconditional.

She is survived by her sisters, Roberta Horvath and Kendra (Mike) Wilcox; brothers-in-law, Carl Morell, Ed Morell, and Joe Morell; seven nephews, one niece, aunts Ann DeSantis, Betty Jane DeSantis and Marlene (Ken) Braunlich. Along with many cousins and extended family.

Deanne will be dearly missed by her lifelong Hubbard girlfriends — Paula McBride, Kimmie Swain, Lisa Chestnut, and Angela Giangiuli — whose friendship remained a constant blessing throughout her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ann Marie Horvath. Her grandparents, Emery and Violet Horvath, James and Venerina Vassalo and uncles, Chester and Sandy DeSantis.

Deanne lived her life as a beautiful reflection of God's grace. Her unwavering faith, gentle spirit, and kind heart touched everyone she met. She loved to travel, always amazed by the beauty of God's creation and sharing those moments with the people she loved most.

Though her earthly journey has ended, we rejoice in knowing that Deanne is now in the presence of Jesus — whole, healed, and surrounded by eternal peace and joy.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers throughout the past year during Deanne's journey with ovarian cancer.

Your faith, kindness, and encouragement have been a tremendous blessing to us during this difficult time.

We are especially thankful for Deanne's dedicated care team, whose compassion and commitment reflected the hands and heart of Christ.

Through it all, we have felt the presence of God and the strength of our community. May He bless each of you for walking this path with us.
