Obituary


AUSTINTOWN David Pennock Phibbs, Sr. 49, died Thursday afternoon August 19, 2010. He was born September 15, 1960 in Youngstown, a son of Walter R. and Joann Pennock Phibbs, Sr. and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Phibbs was a maintenance supervisor for Ambling Companies and University Courtyard Apartments at Youngstown State University for 8 years. He was a member of Disciples Christian Church in Boardman where he was a Trustee, an Elder and also a Deacon, and also was a former member of the First Christian Church of Youngstown.

He was a committee chairman for the Boy Scouts of America Troop 55 of Youngstown, the oldest troop in Youngstown, for 13 years. David was an avid bowler for 25 years, an avid Cleveland Browns and Youngstown State Football fan, enjoyed taking care of his fish and aquariums, loved camping with the boy scouts and was known as Mr. Fix It. He will be missed by a trillion people.

He leaves his wife, the former Paula Marie Cargill, whom he married July 12, 1980; two sons, David Pennock Phibbs, Jr. and Steven Michael Phibbs both at home; two daughters, Holly Ann Marie (Eric) Price of Austintown and Rachelle Rae Phibbs and Fiancé Ryan Petrosky of Pittsburgh; three brothers, Dennis P. (Marilyn) Phibbs of Sharpsville, Daniel W. (Jackie) Phibbs of Hubbard and Bruce P. (Lori) Phibbs of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Robin A. (Dale) Ebert and Cathy F. (Richard) Ebert both of Austintown; three brothers in law, Chris (Sherri) Cargill, Jim (Lori) Cargill and George (Sandy) Cargill; two sisters in law, Diane Phibbs and Donna Jean Ragozzine; mother in law, Mary Jane Harbison; stepfather in law, Bob Harbison; two very special aunts, Rosemary Cargill and Alice Huff; a goddaughter, Jenny Harper; several nieces and nephews and a very special friend Kenny Barr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Walter R. "Bobby" Phibbs, Jr., Paul B. Phibbs, a niece Alesha Dawn Ebert, father in law, Thomas E. Cargill and two uncles, Arthur A. Cargill and Ray Huff.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday 11:00 AM at the Disciples Christian Church, 565 Boardman Canfield Rd., Boardman, OH 44512.

Family and friends may call on Monday 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home, Hubbard.

Contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop 55.

Burial will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
