HUBBARD Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM at Central Christian Church, Hubbard for Darrel L. Fusselman, 79, who passed away Friday morning February 5, 2010 at Northside Medical Center in Youngstown.
Darrel was the son of Elmer and Eulala (Thomas) Fusselman. He was born June 13, 1930 in Hubbard, where he made his home for 79 years graduating from Hubbard High School in 1948.
He married Rita M. Witzman from Reading, Ohio, July 11, 1953 after serving in the U.S. Army from March 28, 1951 to December 30, 1952 which included a 1 year tour of duty in Korea during the War.
Darrel was a lifelong member and Deacon of the Central Christian Church, which he attended on a regular basis until his illness slowed him down.
Darrel worked for Truscon of Youngstown from 1948 to 1959. He also worked for the U.S. Can Company, formerly Sherwin Williams of Hubbard from 1961 to 1992 where he retired from the shipping department. He also enjoyed painting as a second job following in his father's footsteps, and eventually teaching his own children.
He was a member of the Hubbard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3767 and Sherwin Williams (U.S. Can) golf and bowling leagues for many years. Darrel loved sports, from Cleveland Pro teams to local teams. He especially enjoyed going to all the football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, softball, track and cross country games and events that his grandchildren participated in.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Laverne, a brother Walter and his wife Rita of 44 years, who passed away August 23, 1997.
He leaves behind to hold on to his memories, his 4 children; son Daniel (Susan Vanusek) Fusselman of Poland, Ohio; daughter Eileen (Dale) Pringle of Hubbard, Ohio; son Donald (Deborah Nevinski) Fusselman of Hubbard; daughter Elaine (Harry) Hill of Cincinnati, Ohio; and 7 grandchildren; Mindy Pringle of Hubbard, Andrew Fusselman of Cincinnati, Nicole Pringle of Hubbard, Gregory Fusselman of Poland, Chad Pringle, Phillip Fusselman, and Kevin Fusselman all from Hubbard.
Family and friends may call on Monday, 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home and also on Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to One Northwest at Northside Medical Center for the kindness and loving care they gave to Darrel.

Burial will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
