HUBBARD Daniel A. Katko, 83, of Hubbard, died on Thursday evening, October 11, 2007, at Liberty Health Care Center. He was born on November 8, 1923, in Hubbard, a son of John and Elizabeth Hajdu Katko and was a lifelong Hubbard resident.
Mr. Katko was a development engineer for A. K. Steel in Wheatland, PA for 15 years, retiring in 1988. Prior to this, he worked for Lombard Corporation for 23 years. Daniel was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hubbard and a 1949 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, having served during World War II and enjoyed traveling.
He leaves his wife, the former Mabel A. Slayton, whom he married on June 4, 1949; a son, Ricke D. (Sheila) Katko of Martinsville, IN and a daughter, Karen (William) Klenke of Modesto, CA.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a grandson, Barret Klenke, brothers, Albert, Steve and William Katko and sisters, Julia Katko, Pearl Erdelyi and Elizabeth Mauser.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard, where family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
