Obituary


BROOKFIELD Clyde S. Mathews, Jr., 76, of Brookfield, died Tuesday evening, May 31, 2005, at his residence. He was born March 8, 1929, in Youngstown, a son of Clyde S., Sr. and Henrietta Haladay Mathews and was a life long area resident.

Mr. Mathews owned and operated Mathews Appliance Center in Hubbard for 40 years. He was a member of Corner House Christian Church in Hubbard and served as trustee.
Clyde served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, enjoyed antique cars and spending time with his family.

He leaves his wife, the former Avis J. Martin, whom he married August 23, 1958; a son, Gabriel W. Mathews of Atlanta, GA; two daughters, Pameyla S. (Donald) Glass of Duluth, GA and Mary Rujeania (Timothy) Mathews-Bebech of Hubbard and 5 grandchildren, Tyler Glass, Shelby Glass and Riley Glass of Duluth, GA and Bethany Bebech and Alanna Bebech of Hubbard.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, Dale Mathews and a sister, Lillian Carter.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at Corner House Christian Church in Hubbard.

There will be no calling hours.
