Obituary


HUBBARD A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11:30 AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church for Chester A. "Cheech" DeSantis, 90, who died Tuesday morning December 23, 2014 at Hospice House. He was born January 20, 1924 at home in Coalburg, OH, a son of Sandy and Venerina Rock DeSantis and was a lifelong Coalburg and Hubbard resident.

Mr. DeSantis was a 1941 graduate of Hubbard High School and served with the United States Army Air Force during World War II. He was a millwright and worked in maintenance for Youngstown Welding and Engineering for 25 years, retiring in 1985. Chester was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, where he served as an usher, was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus and was an active member of the church festival having worked the Big 6 Wheel. He loved to hunt, fish and tend to his garden.

He leaves his wife, the former Anne T. Madeline, whom he married July 10, 1945.

He leaves two sons, Sandy A. DeSantis of Hubbard and James M. (Joyce) DeSantis of Howland; a brother, Sandy M. (Betty Jane "BJ") DeSantis of Morton, IL; 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Chester was preceded in death by his parents; a son David A. DeSantis; a daughter, Mary Ann DeSantis and a sister, Anna Marie Horvath.

Family and friends may call on Monday, one hour prior to the services from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.

Interment will be St. Patrick Cemetery.
