HUBBARD Cecelia Halicki, 87, who was affectionately called "Nana Three Bears" by her great grandchildren, died Friday afternoon, January 9, 2009, at Forum Health Northside Medical Center. She was born September 15, 1921, in Hubbard, a daughter of Salvatore and Maria Cassasanta Petrella and was a life long Hubbard resident.
Mrs. Halicki was a homemaker and had previously worked at Michigan Hanger for 15 years and at Republic Steel Corp. during World War II. She was a member of St. Patrick Church where she was a former secretary. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader.
Her husband, Anthony Halicki, whom she married April, 1945, died February 28, 1985. She leaves a son, Salvatore Halicki of Hubbard; a daughter, Bernice (Chuck) Ialenti of Youngstown; two brothers, Michael Pizzoferatta of Poland and James Petrella of Hubbard; two sisters, Phyllis Pagley of Warren and Viola DeSantis of Aliquippa, PA; six grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters in law Stella Lakovich and Florence Hulbert, both of Youngstown.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Paul Halicki; a granddaughter, Rebecca Halicki; two brothers, Rocco Petrella and Joseph Pizzoferatta; two sisters, Catherine Stabile and Connie Petrella and several members of her husband's family, Aggie Marvich, Josephine Sosnosky, Mary Larsick, Janie Crebbs, Stanley Halicki and Vince Halicki.
The Halicki family extends its sincere thanks to Dr. Howard Slemons and the medical staff of 3NW at Northside Medical Center for the care and personal attention they gave during Cecelia's illness.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 9:15 am at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home and at 10:00 am at St. Patrick Church.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8 pm.
