YOUNGSTOWN Carl H. Sturdevant, 90, died March 18, 2009 at his residence. He was born December 28, 1918 in Warren, a son of Merle and Cora Carter Sturdevant and was a life long area resident.
Mr. Sturdevant worked in the shipping department at U.S. Steel Corp. McDonald Works for 41 years before retiring in 1980. Carl was a member of St. John Episcopal Church and a former member of St. Rocco's Episcopal Church, the National Association of Civilian Conservation Corp., the Northside Seniors Bowling League and the 787th Military Police Battalion Association. He served with the United States Army during World War II in Europe.
He leaves his wife, the former, Lucile C. Tooill, whom he married June 18, 1941; a daughter, Carol L. (Jonathan) Flowers of Dayton; two sisters, Donna Frye of Bend, OR and Annabel Young of Canfield; two grandchildren, Heather Flowers of Cleveland and Atty. Kevin S. Flowers of Los Angeles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harvey and Clifford Sturdevant and a sister Kathryn Meredith.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, 11:00 AM at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home, Hubbard.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
