HUBBARD There will be a mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Church, Hubbard with the Rev. Father Timothy O'Neill officiating for Carl T. Morell who passed away peacefully at Hospice House Sunday morning November 7, 2010.
Carl was born September 29, 1932 in Hubbard, a son of Thomas and Frances Palumbo Morell and was a lifelong Hubbard resident.
He was a 1950 graduate of Hubbard High School, where he was given the Hubbard Alumni Eagle Excellence Award in 2000. Carl served in the United States Army for two years, was a graduate of Youngstown State University and received his master's degree from Westminster College. His career was dedicated to education, rising through the system to eventually become the Superintendent of Hubbard Schools until his retirement in 1993.
Carl was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and served on the Parish Council. He was an usher at Powers Auditorium for 14 years and a member of the Northside Club and the Hello Brothers Club. He liked working in his yard, decorating his home and reading, but his greatest joys were his God, his family and dancing.
Carl's gentleness, unselfishness and kind spirit will live on with those who loved him.
He will lovingly be remembered and his memory cherished by his wife of 52 years, the former Patricia Jo Emerine, whom he married May 31, 1958; four sons, Carl (Cyndi Crosby) Morell Jr. of Charlotte, NC, Edward J. Morell of Canfield, Thomas (Deanne Horvath) Morell of El Paso, TX and Joe Morell of Austintown; grandchildren, Justin, Alexis and CJ Morell; a sister, Eleanor Fortunato and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Viola, Angeline and Mary and brothers, Edward and Ralph.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home.
Closing prayers will be held on Wednesday, 9:15 AM at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
