HUBBARD C. Edward Rhodes, 83, died Thursday morning June 26, 2014 at Liberty Health Care. He was born September 16, 1930 in Hubbard, a son of Charles H. and Jane Sullivan Rhodes and was a lifelong Hubbard resident.

Mr. Rhodes was a 1948 graduate of Hubbard High School, a 1952 graduate of Youngstown Business College receiving his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He was an accounting manager at Sharon Steel Corp. for 42 years until their closing in 1991. Edward was a very active member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, serving as an usher, counting Sunday collections and worked the festival for many years. He also was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Edward was an advisor for Junior Achievement, was active with Boy Scout Troop 97, volunteered for the American Red Cross, was a member of the Hubbard Men's Garden Club and was a foster parent and loved to garden.

He leaves his wife, the former Evelyn Shook, whom he married August 8, 1953; five sons, David Rhodes of Hubbard, Kenneth Rhodes of Hubbard, Robert (Karen) Rhodes of Douglasville, GA, Kevin Rhodes of Berea and Joseph Rhodes of Douglasville, GA; a daughter, Mary (Mark) Leslie of Ravenna; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George and Francis Rhodes and two sisters, Anne Adams and Kathryn Weller.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday, one hour prior to the services from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.

The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society, 225 N. Main St., Hubbard, OH 44425.

Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery.
