HUBBARD Blanche H. Gurney, 90, of Hubbard, died Friday morning, April 13, 2007, at Northside Medical Center. She was born on April 4, 1917, in Pulaski, PA, a daughter of John and Mary Sikora Richards and was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Gurney, a homemaker, was a member of Corner House Christian Church in Hubbard, where she had been a deaconess and a Sunday school teacher for thirty years. She was a member of The Happy Wanderers and a Cub Scout assistant leader. Blanche enjoyed sewing and crafts, especially making lap covers and patch comforts for area nursing homes.
Her first husband, Dave Coxson, whom she married September 23, 1939, died April 20, 1977.
She leaves her husband, Frederick O. Gurney, whom she married on September 5, 1981; two sons, Jerry (Debra) Coxson of Hubbard and David (Kim) Coxson of Harbinger, NC; one stepson, David Gurney of Ft. Wayne, IN; three daughters, Janice (Raymond) Sanders of Kokomo, IN, Marilyn (Tom) Jacobs of Hubbard and Carol (Timothy) Balluch of Farrell, PA; one stepdaughter Carol Brumlow of Liberty, KY; three half-brothers, John Richards, Donald Richards and David Richards, all of Hubbard; three half-sisters, Dolly Katilavas of Salem, OH, Adrienne Richards and Renee Brown, both of Ocoee, FL; 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Besides her first husband, her parents, two brothers, Joe and Adam Richards and three sisters, Stella Kuzma, Florence Richards and Emily Barninger, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday at Corner House Christian Church, Hubbard.
Family and friends may call at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home on Monday from 5 to 8 pm and at church on Tuesday one hour prior to the service.
