HUBBARD Betty Josephine Welsch-Ruby, 78, of Hubbard, passed into her next life on Thursday, February 12, at Horizon Village Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for a short period. She was born in Newcomerstown, Ohio, the daughter of Francis and Ruth Welsch on October 11, 1925. Betty married Carl Ruby on July 25, 1946; he preceded her in death on November 3, 1991.
She worked at Patton's Sparkle Market in Hubbard in the bakery department for many years, and served as a Mother, mentor and guide to her children and grandchildren throughout her life.
Betty spread her love both near and far. She was a loving and caring Mother, Grandmother, Wife and Friend. She enjoyed baking canning, gardening, dogs, Volkwagens and her family. The essence of Betty showed in her propensity to love, her desire to want to help everyone and her unwavering love for her family. Today the world has lost a friend. Her spirit will live on with her loved ones who were blessed to take part in her life.
She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Kathy (Anthony) Matola of Hubbard and Mrs. Betty Jean (Joseph) Thompson of Tionesta, PA; four grandchildren, Michael Machi of Girard, Katie L. Matola of Hubbard, Anthony R. Matola, Jr., of Hartstown, PA and Jason M. Matola of Hubbard; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Welsch of Newcomerstown, Ohio and Max Isabel of Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, William Welsch and a granddaughter, Toni Michelle Matola.
There were no services or calling hours at Betty's request. Arrangements were handled by the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home.
