Obituary


HUBBARD Bernie Smallwood, 80, of Hubbard, died Thursday evening, June 6, 2002, at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. He was born April 25, 1922, in Lookout, KY, a son of John and Adeline Holland Smallwood and lived in the area for 45 years.

Mr. Smallwood worked for U.S. Steel Corp. for 27 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Alliance Free Will Baptist Church, Alliance, OH, where he was the church soloist. He enjoyed gardening and was a World War II veteran.

His wife, the former, Carrie Newsome, whom he married October 30, 1947, died October 30, 1992. He leaves a daughter, Wanda S. (Stanley) Mullins of Hubbard; a brother, Ernest Smallwood of Youngstown; three sisters, Mildred Zebosky of Austintown, Oma Trivette of Pikeville, KY and Emogene Mullins of Hellier, KY; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Two brothers, Ed and Billy Ray Smallwood and a sister, Betty Newsome are deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, 2 to 5 PM.
