ASHLAND, OH Avis M. Pugh, 87, formerly of Hubbard, died Saturday, April 7, 2007, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Ashland. She was born September 7, 1919, in Hubbard, OH, a daughter of Albert L. and Opal M. Robinson Hibler and lived most of her life in Hubbard.
Mrs. Pugh was a teacher with the Struthers Public School System for 26 years retiring in 1986. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hubbard where she was the church organist for 25 years. A talented musician, she played the organ at many different churches around the area since she was nine years old and taught music privately from 1954 to 1960.
She was a 1940 graduate of Youngstown College and later received her Masters Degree from Youngstown State University in 1980.
Her husband, Harry E. Pugh, whom she married August 12, 1944, died July 10, 1971. She leaves a son, Thomas E. (Susan) Pugh of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England; two daughters, Margery A. (William) Sherron of Galion, OH and Doris J. (Kenneth) Ferguson of Ashland, OH; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a brother, Paul A. Hibler.
A memorial service will be held at a future date.
