Obituary


HUBBARD Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church, Hubbard for Arthur R. Marshall, 86 of 3304 Lewis Seifert Rd. who died Sunday afternoon at his home. He was born October 8, 1914, in Hubbard, a son of Issac G. and M. Mae Snyder Marshall and was a life long Hubbard resident.

Mr. Marshall worked for the William B. Pollock Co. for 43 years retiring in 1979 as a welding supervisor. He was 1932 graduate of Hubbard High School.

He was a 50-year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hubbard and also belonged to the Hubbard Men's Garden Club. He was a member of St. Alban's Lodge, No. 677 F&AM for 50 years and was serving on the degree team. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. He had a passion for baseball and was a member of the Youngstown Old Timers Baseball Hall of Fame and was selected its King of the Realm in May, 2000. He also belonged to the Penn-Ohio Old Timers Hall of Fame.

Mr. Marshall was a hard hitting left handed first baseman and had tried out for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the St. Louis Cardinals. He played baseball for various AA teams in the area and played with the Youngstown Old Timers team at Cooperstown, NY. He was a Hubbard little league manager for many years and served as a batboy when Babe Ruth made an appearance in the area in the 1930's. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, building birdhouses and refinishing furniture.

He leaves his wife, the former Helen M. Quigley, whom he married May 27, 1939; a daughter, Nancy McAfoose of Hubbard; a sister, Ula Haggerty of Hubbard; two granddaughters and one great grandson. Three brothers, Holmes, Alfred, and Gerald Marshall and a sister, Velma Fluhr are deceased.

Friends may call at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home on Wednesday, 4 to 8 PM and at church one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Hubbard Union Cemetery.
