HUBBARD Arlene Leaman Rohrer, 92, died Friday morning April 15, 2011 at Liberty Health Care. She was born April 12, 1919 in Lititz, PA a daughter of Isaac L. and Annetta Erb Leaman and moved to Hubbard in 1948.
Mrs. Rohrer graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor degree in education and received her master's degree from Penn State University where she was a member and past president of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She was an instructor in the English Department at Youngstown State University and taught English and Social Studies at Hubbard High School.
Arlene was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, serving as president of the congregation, a Sunday school teacher, a member of the choir and was newsletter editor. She was a member of the Penn State Alumni Association, the Hubbard Progressive Club, Hubbard Fortnightly, the Hubbard Historical Society, a volunteer at the Hubbard Senior Center, a poll worker, a charter member of the Hubbard Friends of the Library and a former member of the Lyric Club.
Arlene enjoyed travel, reading, music, gardening and attended 42 elder hostels.
Her husband, Charles E. Rohrer, whom she married December 6, 1941 in Rickerville, PA, died February 1, 2011.
She leaves a son, Douglas Rohrer of Hubbard.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lila.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday April 30, 2011, at Grace Lutheran Church.
