HUBBARD A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church for Anthony A. Schlais, 94, who died Friday morning February 27, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born January 30, 1921 at home in Youngstown, a son of Michael P. and Elizabeth Flatinger Schlais and lived most of his life in Hubbard.
Mr. Schlais was a welder and press operator at General American Transportation for 38 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. Anthony served with the United States Army during World War II and was a lifetime member of the Hubbard VFW Post No. 3767. He enjoyed wood crafting, working at his house, gardening and especially loved spending time with his family.
His wife, the former Theodora Ann Pollice, whom he married November 28, 1946, died October 17, 2008.
He leaves two sons, Deacon Michael W. (Marsha) Schlais of Boardman and Wendell F. (Debbie) Schlais of Hubbard; a daughter, Catherine A. (Richard) Fulytar of Howland; six grandchildren, Richard (Sarah) Fulytar of Hudson, Ryan (Shannon) Fulytar of Chicago, Melissa (Daniel) Milush of Boardman, Michael (Danielle) Schlais of Strongsville, Laura (Kurt) Foster of Dublin, Ken Schlais of Cortland and 10 great grandchildren, Lydia, Daniel, Kaitlyn, Audrey, Jacob, Michael, Rose, Sophia, Afton and Emily.
Anthony was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; two sisters, Kathryn Phillips and Elizabeth DeFoy and a brother, Rudolph Schlais.
Family and friends may call on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home and also one half hour prior to the services on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick School, 38 East Water St., Hubbard, OH 44425.
Interment will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
