Obituary

HUBBARD A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday December 2, 2015 at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church at 10:30 AM for Anthony B. "Frenchy" DeSantis, 88, who died peacefully on Friday afternoon November 27, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, surrounded by his family, following a prolonged illness. He was born August 25, 1927 in Hubbard, a son of Michael and Mary Pasquarella DeSantis and was a lifelong Hubbard resident.

Mr. DeSantis, a 1945 graduate of Hubbard High School, served with the United States Navy aboard the USS Yorktown CV-10 during World War II. He was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Hubbard, where he served as an Usher for many years. Anthony was a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society, the Knights of Columbus Hubbard Council No. 2072.

Anthony was a postal carrier in Hubbard for 32 years, until his retirement on December 24, 1982. Better known as the Mailman of Hubbard, Anthony probably had a conversation with everyone in town at one point of his life. If you knew Frenchy, he had the gift of gab, and loved every minute of it. He enjoyed golfing, but most of all loved spending time with his wife and family.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 65 years, the former Jeanette "Dolly" Lupe, whom he married February 19, 1950; one son, Jeffrey (Bernadette) DeSantis of Constableville, NY; two daughters, Leah (Mario) Boselli of Victorville, CA and Gail (Brian) Kirby of Orange Beach, AL; a daughter-in-law, Angela DeSantis of Hubbard; three sisters, Alice Casey of Hubbard, Angela Fetchet of Youngstown and Phyllis (Robert) Laskovics of Bessemer, PA; 6 grandchildren, Gary (Lindsey) DeSantis II, David (Amber) DeSantis, John (Lauren) DeSantis, Christina DeSantis, Anthony DeSantis and Nathan DeSantis.

Anthony was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary A. DeSantis Sr.; a brother, Michael DeSantis Jr. and a sister, Eunice Williams.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday December 1, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home.

Anthony's family would like to thank the staff of St. Elizabeth Hospital ER, MICU and CICU for their constant and attentive care.

Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Research Institute, National Headquarters, One Exchange Plaza, 55 Broadway Suite 1802, New York, NY  10006

Interment will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
