Anthony Bassett's Obituary


HUBBARD Anthony J. Bassett, 87, of Hubbard, died Sunday morning, January 13, 2008, at Assumption Village. He was born July 27, 1920, in Myersdale, PA, a son of Frank and Mary Acciaroli Bassetti and lived most of his life in this area.

Mr. Bassett worked for Westinghouse Electric Corp. in Sharon, PA for 40 years retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Patrick Church, where he served as an usher, and the Msgr. Francis J. Hughes Council No. 2072 of the Knights of Columbus in Hubbard. He was a member of the Northside Club, member and past president of the Hubbard VFW golf league and a member of the East High School Hall of Fame for baseball. Tony enjoyed golfing, fishing and bowling.

His wife, the former Dorothy DeVeto, whom he married April 30, 1949, died March 19, 2007. He leaves a son, James A. (Cynthia) Bassett of Canfield and two grandsons, Kyle and Patrick Bassett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Ben Bassetti, Alex, Fred and Gus Bassett and two sisters, Mary Tavalario and Lena Roseman.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 9:15 am at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home and at 10:00 am at St. Patrick Church.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 6 to 8 pm.
