HUBBARD Andrew Budd, Sr., 88, of Hubbard, died Sunday morning, June 12, 2005, at Northside Medical Center. He was born December 16, 1916, in Youngstown, a son of Andrew and Sophie Bilak Boda and lived most of his life in Hubbard.
Mr. Budd was a welder at GATX in Masury for 43 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of St. Patrick Church in Hubbard, the VFW Post 3767 in Hubbard, charter member of the 50 Plus Golf League and United Steelworkers of America. An Army veteran serving during World War II, Andy fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was in the Army Engineers 341st Division working on the Alcan Highway for a year. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening and bowling.
He leaves his wife, the former Elizabeth "Betty" Walter, whom he married October 19, 1946; four sons, Andrew (Sharon) Budd, Jr. of Madison, OH, William Budd of Hubbard, James (Kathy) Budd of Hubbard, and Richard (Michel) Budd of Colorado Springs, CO; two daughters, Jeanne (Anthony) Vernell of Athens, OH and Elizabeth (George) Rimko of Liberty; three nieces, Rosemary Maki of CA, Eleanor Serich of FL, and Elizabeth Maki of HI and 8 grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a son, Robert Budd, 1 brother and 3 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard.
Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home, prior to the services.
